Today in the UK National Newspaper, (The Sun, April 3rd edition page 36) Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House has expressed that the company would also like the PS4 to appeal to a female demographic, as well as apparently suggesting that the console will launch in October 2013 at a price point of £300.
“Brit Mr House (Andrew House) says the games console, due out in October, will feature a raft of new features to broaden its appeal beyond younger male gamers”.
When addressing The Sun, House went on to say:
“We’re not going down the route of making the console pink of course… I think the key is to have people – and increasingly women – with different sensibilities creating different games. It is not all about shoot em up games.”
It’s normally worth taking such rumours with a grain of salt. However, it is worth noting this article did not come from the weekly gaming section, but rather the business section with direct quotes from the CEO himself. This of course implies a lot more credibility as the newspaper is liable by printing the article, but it’s still in question whether this is in fact The Sun or Mr. House speaking.
If this article is indeed true, it certainly begs the question, will this potential launch window only apply to North America and Japan, and will PAL Territories be forced to wait? No doubt all will be revealed at E3 2013!
