The embargo has finally been lifted, which means we can now talk about Bungie’s new game, Destiny.
Destiny is a unique first person shooter that has been inspired by the Massively Multiplayer Online genre. It’s not quite an MMO, but it is an open and shared experience in which players can interact with one another. If we’ve understood Bungie’s Vidoc correctly, it has been implied that Destiny will have a life span of 10 years.
“We’re really putting players at the center of the world and giving them control of their experience. From the ground up, we’ve built this game to be social and cooperative. We’ve learned a bunch of lessons from MMOs and Facebook games… but Destiny is a console shooter,” explains Jason Jones, Bungie’s co-founder and Destiny’s project director.
Destiny will be coming to Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and “Next-Generation” Consoles. Whilst there is not currently a release date, we expect the game to ship sometime in 2014.
